Breon,

First, thank you for posting these. I did watch Erik's entire speech and Q&A session. I was astounded with how down-to-earth he is when faced with specifically tough questions and also how he handled what weren't quite questions and asked them to re-ask them as a question.

Second, the answer that Erik gave regarding net neutrality is quite interesting and actually made a lot of sense (wanting operators to be able to limit bandwidth when it overloads their networks, but not wanting them to choose which specific provider they limit. Treat the same form of content equally whether it's text, image, video, etc.)

Breon - What a fun post! I too am a diner fan.

I wish we could go back in time and visit Becky's. Becky's was near the corner of Hennepin and Franklin on the same block as Burch Pharmacy.

Technically it was a cafeteria. The decor was dark, flocked wallpaper nearly covered in religious images. Becky's hired many disabled people as staff. You pushed a plastic tray along and requested what you wanted. Hot roast beef and gravy were perennial offerings, as were hot, watery green beans.

Now the neighborhood offers fancy restaurants and Sebastian Joe's. But the persistency of old and dowdy establishments like "Burch Pharm" and the dry cleaner give a hint of the real flavor of the intersection thirty years ago.

A well-written letter, they'd be crazy not to take note of.
You have my admiration, always.

An interesting thought. I shy away from smartphones because of the cost, but I think another part of it is that I don't want to be THAT available to people. But I'm a little Amish when it comes to mobile technology.

Thanks for the link! I actually didn't take any photos that night. After 5+ hours at First Ave on Friday and 5+ at burlesque on Saturday, I just didn't feel like holding my camera anymore. Of course, I regretted that but ah well.

Good to see you there. :)

I and my wife have Palm PREs with sprint and I went to the Verizon store today and checked out their Pre and Pixi. I was really impressed with the Pixi. it was much nicer than I thought. The keyboard was great! Verizon plans are still more expensive than Sprint and i would have to pay $300 in early termination fees so I guess i will stay with Sprint for a while
